Katrina is a graduate of the Chicago School of Massage Therapy. Originally from Massachusetts, she received her Bachelors’s degree in Cultural Anthropology from Ithaca College, and shortly thereafter moved to Chicago. From a young age, she wanted to work in an environment that was both hands on and healing. Katrina was raised in a family where homeopathic remedies and brown rice were the norm, and she spent many hours begging for "normal" medicine and sugar cereal.
She has finally come full circle, and dedicated herself to a healthy life; body, mind and soul. The study of Anthropology is partly what drew Katrina to become a massage therapist. A class in Medical Anthropology re-sparked her interest in alternative healing modalities. She found the Chicago School of Massage Therapy to be her answer in the quest for an institution that combined a rigorous academic schedule with a truly holistic approach to massage.
Katrina uses her background in cultural anthropology in the field of massage therapy on a regular basis. She has found her work as a massage therapist to be like a giant case study on humans and their need and receptiveness for compassionate and therapeutic bodywork. With each client she is acutely aware of creating a healing space, and most importantly, helping to teach clients to be aware of their bodies.
Katrina practices a combination of Swedish, deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point and body movement techniques. She holds her certification in Myofascial Massage from the Chicago School of Massage Therapy. She tailors each session to fit the needs of each and every client. Katrina is always looking to expand her mind, and is currently researching a master’s degree in Integrative Health, as well as certification in Reflexology. Katrina practices yoga and pilates, and this summer completed the Falmouth Road Race (a personal victory!)
