Get the (IT)Band Back Together
As massage therapists, you can imagine that we hear about a lot of different aches and pains that slow our patients down. The fire that drives our engine is our passion and desire to want to help them get past their injuries and back to the activities that make them happy. One of the best ways we can help is by providing solutions beyond our hands that will empower them to take more control over their bodies.
ITB Syndrome is a common condition we see at The Boston Bodyworker. Unfortunately, by the time we get our hands on patients, the condition is at a level where rest may be their best remedy, even more than massage. However, as the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Recently, I came across an article that may just be the ‘ounce of prevention’ patients should consider. The fact of the matter is that as much as we push our bodies to perform, we have to also consider the importance of a proper recovery routine as well as an appropriate strengthening routine.
No matter what stage of training you are in, it’s never too late or too soon to incorporate a strengthening routine.
